Associate Professor of Mathematics
University of Northern Iowa
My curriculum vitae.
I keep a reflective practice teaching blog at Circles and Tangents. I use git in my regular workflow these days, and my teaching materials are among my GitHub projects. I can be found at Google Plus, where I mostly discuss teaching, mathematics, and technology (especially Sage). And sometimes I pop up on Twitter.
As an educator, I am interested in inquiry based learning, standards based assessment, and the role technology can play in learning mathematics.
My teaching duties center on geometry classes and mentoring undergraduate research projects.More about my teaching
I am most interested in differential geometry, dynamical systems, and Lie groups. The best problems involve a mix of all three.
I have also worked in the scholarship of teaching and learning, combinatorics, and mathematical biology.More about my scholarship
I am a Project NExT fellow and an active member of both the Mathematical Association of America and the Academy of Inquiry Based Learning. I am a member of the American Mathematical Society.
I serve in a variety of ways in the Mathematics Department and at UNI.More about my service
