“EXTRA! EXTRA! BULLS CONQUER”

by Mark Maynard

Extra! Extra! Just released from the inky press of the Riverside Riverbulls Fraser Blotter!  The overwhelming crisis over the Power Memorial and the Funny Faculty volleyball teams:

Taken from “Coaches Corner”, Dr. Ed Cosky (Mike Sundall) expressed his thoughts…  Power Memorial blew the fuse and were handed a defeat, 15-9.  Funny Faculty were the next victims, and the Riverside Riverbulls came on strong.  With the support of Glee Club Captain Paul Beck (Rick Beckwith), assistant Glee Club Captain Clene Black (Rusty Brown), Riverside Pep Band under the direction of Clarence Crudwell (Paul Clark), and with the aid of Athletic Director Morgan Watson (Blaine Crandell), assistant coach Gomer Jenks (Steve Givens), Business Manager Barni Plunge (Rick Neely), and Personal Relations man Como Rocket (Scott Routh).

The Riverbull team players were Marti Cosky (Kelly McMullan),  Birdie Prince (Jim Jewett),  Barry Chadwick (Hal Lyness),  Harry Stimson (Tom Peterson),  Kerry Stimson (Brian Peterson),  and team captain Franco Horne (Rick Klute).

Their opponents:  Faculty members, Mr. Oliver, Mr. Nipps, Mr. Barker, Mr. Cox, Mr. Greene, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Mott, Mr. Cook, and Mr. Lyness.

Queen candidates for the Riverbulls lovely Homecoming were  Candy Jones (Lynne Carper),  Della Piker (Davi Mondt),  Ginni Mack (Terry Dannatt),  Tracy Plumber (Christy Lindmark),  Elsie Bordon (Sally Radnich),  and Ruby Friday (Carmen Amendola).   Candy was crowned the happy Homecoming Queen.

Under the Fraser Blotter  (team newspaper)  Glee Club Notes, the team motto: “If you can’t beat ‘em,  cheat ‘em.”   Their team song:  Sweet Georgia Brown.  Mascot:  Bull horn and spark plug.   Team cheer: “No matter how you play the game, it’s if you win or lose.”   Coach Ranglos is known as J.P. Winger in the team circle and Barry Chadwick says,  “That Winger almost cost me the scoring title on bad net calls.”   The team gripe was:  “He cheated us on the net.”   Kerry Stimson’s  ’32 Ford pickup is the team bus  (it’s yellow, you know).

The scoring was as follows:  faculty won first game 15-9.  Riverbulls took next three: 15-6,  15-7,  15-13.

Future Riverbull plans include:  tournament with Police Department and one with High School coaches.  These activities are to help raise money for the new YMCA.  There won’t be any charge, but there is hope for donations.  $117.40 was collected by the Studen Council on the Riverbull-Faculty game.

Keep watching the Riverbulls!
