Update 2017:

I finally know that getting to the reunion is just not possible for us; however, I am still trying to grasp the reality that we are throwing around that number. I am decidedly NOT believing it can be possible, but then I have totally replaced both knees and broke my hip last December and have a rod and 3 screws holding it together That stuff is for "old people" not someone who is only 67!

Back then, did you even think about getting to that age? I sure didn't! I was off to college with enthusiasm, especially when I was able to get admitted to Purdue from sophomore year on---for 8 years and planned to go on to graduate school and from there to teaching of some sort.

Having children was definitely something I looked forward to and loved those years home for my kids incredibly. My first arrived toward the end of my doctoral courses which took a bit of juggling of schedules but I loved every minute--well most of them! I only wished I could have more than 2, but it wasn't in the cards, as they say.

I think maybe it is good that we aren't thinking that far into the future at that age. College, a job, marriage, and kids is a pretty big set of things to take on in life; there isn't room for contemplating beyond that! And yet, here we are retired (maybe) and enjoying grandchildren and keeping track of doctor appointments!

Wish I could be there, but Boone is a LONG way from Houston, TX! My parents are both gone and my brothers are Yankton, SD, and the other in Ashland, WI at the tip top of the state right on Lake Superior---we are really a long way from each each other. We haven't all been together since Mom died in August 2013.

Have a great time at the reunion and please tell me photos will be taken and posted online somewhere.

Best wishes,
