Update 2022:

Following graduation from BHS, I became a Music Education and Vocal Performance Major at the University of Northern Iowa, graduating in 1971. My degree led me to teaching positions at Rolfe High School and Pocahontas High School as a music educator and choral director. I later opened a School of Dance in Estherville, and became an adjunct instructor at Iowa Lakes Community College, teaching vocal performance and dance. During those years, I also was a lead singer and keyboardist with the rock band, Kickingbird, comprised mostly of music teachers.

In 1977, I received the degree of Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of South Dakota, later serving on the faculty of Yankton College as Associate Professor of Voice and Opera Studies and as Adjunct Professor of Vocal Performance at the USD. I was accepted to study at the Nordwestdeutsche Akademie fur Musik in Detmold, Germany, earning the designation of Reife Prufung. I became a professional company member of the Landestheater Detmold, also performing as a guest artist at provincial German and French theaters and in USO performances on American military bases.

Upon my return from Europe, I served as Music Director and on-air broadcaster for South Dakota Public Radio and Television. In the midst of all these musical experiences, my most beloved role was that of mother to my son, Nikolas.

In 1990, I responded to a calling to ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church. While attending seminary (son in hand), I met the love of my life, Steve, who was also exploring his call to ministry, and at the same time, herding five children and working three jobs. It was match made in heaven! I became mom to his five plus my one, equals our blended family of eight. We served churches together and separately in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Colorado, which has become our retirement home. After 31 years, we now have 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grands, and a rescue Redbone Coonhound named Gigi.
