Kathy and boys - Blake, Bart, and Brady

Rochester, MN 55906
Occupation: free spirit
Spouse/Sig Other: Bailey Underfoot Beagle
Children: Blake, Bart, and Brady Iverson
Grandkids: None, to the best of my knowledge (the kids have been known to withhold information like this until they catch me in a really good mood)
Life History: I just (on Friday, May 10, 2002) finished my first novel after about 14 and a half months. It’s 447 pages long but I intend to dip my fingertips in Slim Fast for the rewrite. It’s a coming-of-age story about a 15-year-old girl in a small, central Iowa town in 1965. (Why would you think that was Boone?) The working title is Hard to Dance To. (Yes, Mrs. Dugan, I know it ends with a preposition and I’m sorry!). After high school, I went to the University of Iowa (GO HAWKS!) and got a BA in elementary education with an area of concentration in English. This later became my entrée to the glamorous world of substitute teaching. I got married, had kids, got unmarried, got over it, and got on with it. These days I ride around Olmsted County on a big white bus with my faithful driver, Joanie, or one of two handsome firemen (there is a third fireman, occasionally, but his attitudes toward women make Martin Luther look like a flaming liberal and don’t get me started on his opinions about Harry Potter!). I lead a Minnesota Authors book group, co-lead another book group, and will be starting a young adult writers group soon. So, if my life isn’t perfect, it’s at least high average. I do offer free Mayo Clinic guide service. I know the subways, the skyways, and every store in town that carries Ben & Jerry’s. If you’re at St. Mary’s, I will pick you up outside the building…. your choice of entrance. [Kid’s note: You get what you pay for. Mom is a nice lady, but she’s never mastered the concept of “most direct route”.]
