Boone, Iowa 50036 Update 2007:
We have 18 grandchildren now - 8 "regular" and 10 "greats". We just had one of our granddaughters
get married a year ago August and she says she will give us at least a couple more "greats" in the
future. Our daughter, Jacqui, and her better half, just bought a beautiful new home in east
Des Moines this past June. Our daughter, Sally, just got married on July 2nd. She and her
husband are moving to Minneapolis in August. He accepted a new job there. We were married
January 3, 1972, so we've been married for 35 years now. Al will be celebrating his 55th class
reunion in 2009. Getting anxious to see you all again.,br>
Sincerely from your Boone friends,
Kathy & Al Moffet

Life History: Been through rehab in Des Moines to see what I could do for 7 weeks. Got
married January 3, 1972, to Alvin W. Moffet. Been married for 30 years. Took care of 4
children and had a daughter, Jacquelyn Rose Moffett, June 20, 1972. When in high school,
could walk with help without a walker. When I turned 40, I was put into braces because
the ankles gave way and threw me on the floor. They put me back in braces to support my
ankles (I was born with Cerebral Palsy). In September 1993, I had surgery to snip the
Achilles tendons in both legs and was able to put my heels on the floor for the first time
in 45 years. Boy, did that feel funny! Was in two casts both legs at the same time and
in a wheelchair for 5 weeks. Was out of braces again for a year until I turned 40 when they
put in a pump to take away the pain of the CP and to help me walk better. My hobbies are
embroidering pillowcases and scarves, latch-hooking rugs, painting by numbers, collecting
sugar bowls, creamers, bells, and unicorns. I like Bobby Vee (he lifted me out of my wheelchair
and gave me a great big bear hug), Bill Anderson, Tom T. Hall, Hank Snow, Johnny Tillotson,
and the Statler Brothers. My Dad died of heart problems in 1981. My Mother, Rose McClain
(she was head cook at BHS the year after I graduated), died of Lou Gerhrig’s disease in 1997.
