Why Join A Lab?

Participating in a lab is a great way to enhance your education. It is also critical experience if you have intentions to go on to graduate school. Your sophomore year is a good time to join a lab (though earlier and later is possible, too). This gives you enough time to learn about the lab topics and generate your own projects and fully participate in all aspects of the lab experience.

Basic lab responsibilities include: reading journal articles, participating in weekly lab meetings, running research projects, and data entry. Eventually I like to see each member progress to the point of developing his or her own project that leads to presentation at a regional or national conference, and in some cases, publication.
