Basswood Family

Basswood (American linden) - Tilia americana

Bees are attracted to the sweet, yellow blossoms of the basswood tree and a fine quality of honey is produced from the nectar gathered. The seeds are small round balls that look like peas.

This tree reproduces from seeds as well as sprouts which come up from stumps or other trees. The soft wood is easy to carve.
