Circle Part IV pp. 248-338
- Annie messages Mae about Kalden in front of Gina
- Mae now has to make product recommendations in addition to the survey; this is her 7th screen.
- Mae takes a photo of Mercer's antler chandelier and sends it out to as many social media outlets she can think of; then after all the zings interrupt dinner, she explains what she has done. MERCER IS PISSED OFF. (p. 255)
- Mae drives home seething, and decides to "borrow" a Kayak after 10 pm, not even wearing a life preserver (and certainly not sharing her expeditiion on social media). She gets caught on the 2 Seechange cameras positioned on the beach. (p. 265)
- Dan talks to her about "last night" (p. 275)
- Mae meets Eamon Bailey. Bailey decides to use her as an example about how better off (safer, more open, etc) we all are when we are "transparent." Bailey justifies how all secrets are bad among friends, family, society (ex, gays), military, etc. (p. 279).
- "Mutually assured trust" (p. 288)
- Bailey: "Everyone should have a right to know everything, and should have the tools to know anything" (p. 288)
- Bailey: The circle is the strongest shape in the Universe (p. 289)..."and that's why we want it to be perfect"

- 309: Book 2: Mae is Transparent (she is one of two Circlers to be fully transparent). She becomes famous b/c people like her voice.
- Stenton brings back translucent shark, manta rae, etc.
- "All over campus there were signs of an imminent Completion."
- Mae's parents' house is transparent too (a condition of her father's treatment).
- Mae is up to 9 screens at work (p. 327)
- 90% of politicians have announced their "Clarifications" (p. 327)
- Mae has a headache but doesn't want to be seen on camera taking pills lest people judge her. (p. 331)
- Mae lives permanently on the Circle campus (so convenient!); and drinks Sake to get to sleep.
