I recently found out that hydrate really does mean water, as in Ni(acac)2.hydrate does need drying on the vacuum line to reduce the water content. If not, then the reaction with DIBAL and cod to make Ni(cod)2 will have a reduced yield, since the DIBAL will react with the water. So, to the vacuum line to dry the Ni(acac)2.H2O.
Some bubbles, thought I had it under control.
But I come in this morning to find this
Guess I know what I will be doing this afternoon…..cleaning the vacuum line. FML. Oh well, need to be cleaned anyways..
