In a previous post, I had just introduced the rotovap to the glovebox. The first iteration had the motor facing towards the user, giving the user a limited amount of room in the box. In this version, the rotovap has been flipped around so that the motor is facing towards the back of the box. The rotovap adapter kits by Chemglass is the bee’s knees. Really, really love the kit. Holds the vials secure as the rotovap spins up. The most difficult thing was finding the right clamp to hold the hairdryer in place. It looks like an old school 1900s clamp.
I have not used the vacuum line very much to remove solvent since the rotovap in the box works so well. Saves a lot of time of not having to go in and out of the box. It also saves on the dishes since I am not constantly washing the glass valves and round bottom flasks.
Once again, a big thanks to Jim Hodgson, glassblower extraordinaire at KSU for making the flange to the rotovap.
