Finally, the day has arrived when our ACS Omega paper came out. The paper covers the silylation of pyiridine, picolines and quinoline using dirt cheap zinc triflate. No fancy diruthenium complexes needed.
This had to be one of the more difficult papers to publish. The manuscript got the crap reviewed out of it with some less than complimentary comments by the reviewers. But in the end, all of the reviewers’ comments made for a better paper and we are grateful for the reviewers taking the time to review our manuscript.
It is one of the longest papers that we have published. And the diazaditwistane molecule was one of the most challenging to characterize. It all seems so obvious when you know the answer, but at the time, it was a complete mystery to us. This was really a fun project, but I think I am done with triethylsilane for now.
